“There were no reports of any shots fired or injuries to officers or civilians,” a police spokesman said. Officers immediately arrested the man. The royal couple was not in the palace at the time of the incident.

Events on Tuesday evening are likely to heighten tensions among security officials. On Saturday, King Charles and his wife Camilla, 75, will travel by carriage from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey where they will be crowned. Then it also has to return to the palace in a carriage. The route is expected to attract tens of thousands of visitors.
