Lebanon: A potential new Hezbollah leader is no longer available

A leading Hezbollah official, Hashem Safideen, could not be reached since Friday, according to Lebanese security sources. Repeated Israeli airstrikes in the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital Beirut have prevented rescuers from searching where Safideen is believed to be, three insiders told Reuters.

Israel bombed the south of the Lebanese capital Beirut again on Friday night. The Lebanese news agency NNA reported more than ten consecutive attacks. It was one of the worst attacks in Beirut’s southern suburbs since the escalation of conflict between Israel and Hezbollah. Sources close to the Shiite terror group said the Israeli army carried out 11 overnight strikes south of the capital.

A potential Nasrallah successor
