Kathy Griffin diagnosed with ‘extreme case’ of ‘complex PTSD’

Kathy Griffin shared that she was diagnosed with “complex PTSD” after an MRI.

The comedian revealed her findings on TikTok and asked followers for recommendations and tips on how to deal with bouts of anxiety and depression.

“Let’s talk about PTSD. I haven’t talked about it publicly.” She started her own video Posted last Tuesday.

“You can laugh or whatever, but I’ve been diagnosed with complex PTSD, and it’s called an extreme case.”

Griffin, 62, explained with a “wink” that her issues began about five and a half years ago, around the same time that she took a picture holding a replica of former President Donald Trump’s severed head.

The “My Life on the D-List” star immediately faced backlash in her personal life and in her career over the artistic decision.

CNN fired Griffin from co-hosting her New Year’s Eve show and she was also placed on the no-fly list while the Secret Service was investigating her. She also lost several stand-up comedy gigs.

The Fashion Police alum also said her diagnosis of stage 1 lung cancer in 2021 “didn’t help.”

Griffin, 62, said her diagnosis was an “extreme case.”

In the comments section, one of Griffin’s followers recommended trying prescription medications along with EDMR therapy, which is a “mental health treatment technique” in which a person moves their eyes in a certain way while processing traumatic memories in order to “change feelings, thoughts, or behaviors,” According to the Cleveland Clinic.

Griffin shared on Easter Sunday that she was having an MRI but didn’t share the reason behind it; However, many followers at the time speculated that it might have something to do with her cancer battle.

The “Suddenly Susan” alum underwent surgery to remove part of her left lung and was later declared cancer-free.
