Donald Trump appears to still be upset about Jimmy Kimmel’s performance at the Oscars earlier this year. During a rally in Pennsylvania, Trump recalled how Kimmel read his Truth Social post before the Best Picture award was announced, calling Kimmel “an idiot” and “one of the dumbest human beings ever.”
As usual, Kimmel did not take kindly to the criticism directed at him. On last night’s episode of the show, Jimmy Kimmel LiveThe host showed a clip of the gathering and then pointed out the insults, “Isn’t that cute? He’s confusing me with one of his sons again.”
“Wow,” Kimmel continued. “Do you think he’s flirting with me? What the hell? When I die, I want that to be in the Emmys montage. He even had my wife there. Should I be concerned that Trump has mentioned my wife more times at his rallies this year than at his own? I should also point out that the Oscars were over six months ago. He’s still mad about that joke! He keeps bringing it up, which doesn’t bother me at all. In fact, I love it. I just wish he’d get it right.”
Kimmel then called on his wife, Molly McNerney, to offer some advice to Trump. McNerney, who came out wearing a T-shirt that read “Isn’t it time for you to go to jail?” took the opportunity to discuss the current abortion ban in the United States. “Thanks to you, women in 21 states can’t make their own decisions about their lives and their bodies,” she noted. “My advice to you is to shut up and go away. Away… Let a competent woman take over.”
During the Oscars in March, Kimmel read a disgruntled and incomprehensible review of the awards ceremony that Trump had posted on Truth Social during the live broadcast. Kimmel read the entire post before commenting, “Isn’t it time for you to go to jail?” Trump has been furious ever since and can’t seem to shake the incident.
In April, in the midst of his impeachment trial, Trump recycled Kimmel’s joke, while confusing the comedian with Oscar-winning actor Al Pacino.
“Stupid Jimmy Kimmel, who has yet to recover from his horrific performance and major ratings drop as host of the Oscars, especially when he showed the world that he suffers from Trump Derangement Syndrome, otherwise known as Trump Derangement Syndrome, by reading my truth on air about how bad he was doing that night, before stumbling into announcing the biggest award of all time, ‘Picture of the Year,’” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “It was a classic choke, one of the biggest chokes ever in show business, and to top it all off, he forgot to say the famous and obligatory line, ‘The winner is.’ Instead, he stuttered as he opened the envelope.”
Unfortunately for Trump, it was Pacino who was chosen to announce the Best Picture award, skipping the usual list of nominees to make the unofficial announcement. Oppenheimer Winner. Kimmel was delighted, of course, noting that Jimmy Kimmel Live“Don’t get me wrong, I wish I was Al Pacino. I’m not. He’s Al Pacino. I’m me. You’d think he knew that because I’m pretty sure ‘Say hello to my little friend’ is what he said to Stormy Daniels that caused all this trouble.”
