A popular and inexpensive bay and park on Lake Garda is being converted into an expensive beach resort. Many vacationers are upset.
Riva del Garda – Lake Garda is a popular holiday destination Italy. Punta San Vigilio in particular – a small headland between Garda and Torre del Benaco at the foot of Monte Baldo – is one of the prettiest spots in the region. But businessman Giovanni Rana’s new beach resort is causing discontent.
“Pasta King” is the new owner of Lido on Lake Garda
The private bathing bay Baia delle Sirene is a real jewel. The bay is surrounded by numerous cypress and olive trees. But “Pasta King” Rana’s beach band has now formed there. Only recently The Rana and a noble family had an argument at a lake Garda villa there. The well-known pasta maker has now reportedly turned his properties in San Vigilio into a source of income. He bought the land from a noble family.
Next to the Baia delle Sirene is the “Rivera Beach Club – San Vigilio Garda” with sun loungers and a beach bar. Like an Italian magazine Today It was intended to restrict the use of the bay, which could previously have been visited for free.
At the entrance there is a sign indicating that entry to the park is free. However, staying on the beach and swimming in the marine part of the lake are reserved for paying visitors only. The entrance fee is not very cheap. In high season, a day ticket for a lounger with an umbrella costs 30 euros, after 2 pm it is only 18 euros. This can quickly become expensive for families.
“It’s a shame”: Italian “pasta king” charges astronomical prices
Google reviews of “Pasta King” Beach Club also show that visitors are not fully satisfied with their stay. “Unfortunately typical Italian fraud,” writes one viewer. “It’s a shame,” said another, referring to the price. Others spoke of a “rip-off”. In recent years there was an entrance fee to the bay, but it was considerably less then.
But vacationers don’t have to abandon Bathing Bay entirely. “You don’t have to rent a sunbed, parasol or anything like that if you don’t want to. Take your food and towels and enjoy the beach. “We did it, bypassed the ticket booth and went straight to the beach,” said another, recounting his experiences. Whether this is actually possible without restrictions remains questionable.
At least not everyone is happy with the Bay’s new owners. “Absolute recommendation! The price is definitely reasonable,” explains one guest. Many people still appreciate the clean environment.
Only recently The Garda Mayor said with alarming accusations against ADAC outside. ADAC previously warned Italian holidaymakers about a norovirus outbreak in Lake Garda. (which)
