Google’s next big release – Android O is expected to release shortly on supported Pixel and Nexus devices. And HTC U11 owners can also look forward to a plethora of nifty features, as the Taiwanese manufacturer has confirmed that its U11 flagship would be one of the few smartphones to support Bluetooth 5.0, when it gets upgraded to Android O.
“Your device’s hardware has been ready to support Bluetooth 5.0 connections—with no additional firmware updates needed from HTC. When Android O, the next version of the Android OS becomes available, HTC U11 owners all over the world will be able to enjoy the benefits of Bluetooth 5.0,” wrote HTC in a blog post.
Therefore, it appears HTC U11 is all set to join the list of of the few smartphones that cuuurently support Bluetooth 5.0, which include the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, OnePlus 5, Xperia XZ Premium, as well as the Xiaomi Mi 6.
According to HTC, Bluetooth 5.0 will help enhance the overall user experience for HTC U11 owners. The device will be the first smartphone to get Android 0 or Android 8.0 update after its official release later this month on supported Pixel and Nexus devices, further adds HTC.
While multiple reports, citing credible smartphone tipster Evan Blass suggest that Android 0 will arrive on supported Pixel and Nexus devices on August 21. That being said, HTC did not mention as to when its HTC U11 flagship get updated to Android O.
Android O – the next version of Android OS seems almost ready for a release as all supported Nexus and Pixel devices have received four developer previews of the upcoming Android OS.
In terms of new features and improvements, Android O or Android 8.0 will get new additions such as a notifications channel, new emojis, picture-in-picture video, support for multiple displays, along with adaptive icons. Android O is also said to offer an improved virtual reality experience for Google Daydream users.
