Here’s what happens in Warren Buffett’s shopping extravaganza for shareholders

Berkshire Hathaway’s annual shareholder meeting kicks off this weekend with a shopping spree.

Dubbed the Berkshire Bargain Bazaar, the shopping event is a tradition at the annual conference. With over 20,000 square feet of showroom space and over 50,000 items in stock, the showroom features merchandise from countless agglomeration properties.

This year, contributors can snap up Warren Buffett plush dolls from Squishmallows for the first time. They can also snag Buffett-themed clothing from Brooks Sports, as well as Berkshire chocolate coins from See’s Candies.

The event takes place in downtown Omaha at the CHI Health Center. Only contributors can participate in the event and claim the discount.

This is Squishmallows’ first time ever at a shopping event in Berkshire, and the toy brand is a huge hit. Plush toys have drawn long lines at the checkout with many contributors stumbling upon Warren Buffett cartoon dolls.

Berkshire got into Squishmallows with its acquisition of Alleghany, which closed at Fourth quarter of 2022. While Al Afghani’s main business is insurance, the company is also a conglomerate. It owns a few non-financial companies, including Jazwares, which is an American toy maker with brands like Pokémon and Squishmallows.

See’s Candies once again attracted a huge crowd at the “Woodstock for Capitalists”. A “Berkshire box” of chocolates featuring a dancing buffet on the packaging was a popular item at the booth. So was the chocolate nut fudge, a favorite of the Omaha Oracle. Buffett said See’s Candies sold 11 tons of peanut brittle and chocolate at last year’s event.

Investors can purchase sneakers, socks and T-shirts with Warren Buffett illustrations from the Brooks booth. They can also take part in a 5K race hosted by the sportswear and sportswear company Berkshire in downtown Omaha on Sunday morning.

Cardboard cutouts of Warren Buffett greet a plaza shoppers at the Pampered Chef booth, where investors can pick up kitchen tools — including a spoon with the face of the Oracle of Omaha on one side, and Charlie Munger on the other.

There is a separate shareholder-only shopping event in Borsheim, about 14 miles from the main convention centre. Berkshire shareholders browse one-of-a-kind jewelry, engagement rings and watches available for purchase at a discount.
