General Motors finally gave us a preview of the upcoming 2019 Chevrolet Silverado pickup during an event on Saturday at the Texas Motor Speedway. The four-door off-road pickup will officially make its debut at the North American International Auto Show in January.
Not much is known about the upcoming Silverado pickup, but GM suggests that it’ll get a complete design overhaul. The new design will incorporate GM’s latest design philosophy, as well as feedback from over 7000 customers surveyed by the company.
According to GM, the upcoming Chevrolet Silverado will use GM’s mixed materials construction philosophy, which is a combination of aluminum alloys, carbon fibres, as well as steel that reduces the overall kerb weight without having to compromise on performance and functionality.
The company says that its latest approach to construction has helped it reduce the total vehicle significantly in the upcoming Silverado compared to its predecessor, which in turn offers much improved performance and better fuel economy.
Elsewhere, GM also revealed it will offer more models for its next generation Silverado. The red Chevrolet Silverado pickup shown on Saturday at the Texas Motor Show, is the Silverado LT model with the Z71 option package and new Trail Boss specification, which essentially offers a 2-inch suspension lift kit tested and warranted by GM. The model pictured above is one of the eight Silevrado trims that’ll be offered in 2019.
GM is expected to share more details and specifications about the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado pickup at the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. But will it have enough to compete in the burgeoning and competitive market for full-sized pickups? Are you excited about GM’s upcoming Silverado? Let us know in the comments below.
