US presidential candidate Trump has now agreed to a televised showdown with his Democratic rival, Harris. The debate is set to air on ABC on September 10.

Former US President Donald Trump has suggested three televised contests with his election rival Kamala Harris in September. The debates are scheduled to take place on Fox News, NBC and ABC on September 4, 10 and 25, the Republican presidential candidate said at a short press conference at his Mar-a-Lago estate in the US state of Florida.

September 10 is the date fixed

ABC reported on September 10 that Harris and Trump had agreed to a televised showdown. A second showdown between Trump and President Joe Biden was originally scheduled for this date. However, after his woeful performance in his first fight with Trump, Biden decided not to run again, and Democrats have since chosen Vice President Harris as their replacement.

Trump initially declined to run against Harris on this date, instead suggesting a Sept. 4 debate on right-wing channel Fox News, which favors him. The Harris campaign later accused Trump of “playing games,” being “scared” and trying to “derail” the debate. Trump apparently wanted to refute the accusation with advice from his three debates.

Trump did not provide specific conditions, such as whether there would be an audience. The news conference was Harris’ first public appearance since picking Minnesota Gov. Tim Walls as his running mate on Tuesday.
