Leaked renders of Google’s next gen Pixel 2 devices have already surfaced on the web, suggesting that the overall design aesthetics won’t drift away too much from last year’s Pixel range. Things just appear to seem a little more well-rounded. According to past reports, upcoming Google flagships will only feature incremental design changes.

Now, a fresh set of images of the Pixel 2 are doing rounds on the web. Interestingly, these images reveal that Google is sticking to basics with its upcoming Pixel 2 flagships, willing to sacrifice increasingly common features compared to flagships from other manufacturers such as Samsung, LG, and Apple.

As these new images suggest that the Pixel 2 won’t feature a dual-lens primary camera setup, a fast becoming trend in modern day smartphones. That said, the latest leaked image does indicate that the Pixel 2 might feature a front-facing stereo speaker setup. Google’s next-gen Pixel phones codenamed Walleye (Pixel 2), and Taimen (Pixel XL 2), are also expected to come with a 360 degree render feature, fingerprint scanner, chunky bezels, along with a protruding rear camera.

Besides, leaks also suggest that Google might ditch the traditional 3.5mm headphone jack, despite taking a subtle jab at Apple for forgoing the headphone jack in its iPhones.

Earlier, Android Police published an image which was said to be the larger Google Pixel 2 phone. However, it could have been a prototype and not the final design of the upcoming Google Pixel 2 XL.

Nonetheless, those images revealed that the bezels are clearly smaller around the OLED display compared to last year’s Pixel range. Also, the display appears to be flat with a hint of curved glass at the edges.

The upcoming Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 devices are internally codenamed Taimen and Walleye. Google is expected to launch these devices sometime in September/October.

According to reports, the smaller Pixel 2 model is said to pack a 4.97-inch display with a Full HD resolution. Also, the device is likely to retain the same design aesthetics as last year’s model. However, some sources suggest that the device will feature stereo speakers and will be without a 3.5mm jack.

Under the hood, the device is said to feature a Snapdragon 835 processor bundled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of built-in storage.

Coming to the larger Pixel XL 2, codenamed Taimen, the device will feature a 5.99-inch OLED display with a 1440p resolution. Powering the smartphone is said to be a Snapdragon 835 processor bundled with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of built-in storage. Notably, reports also speculate that Google might launch more storage options for its upcoming Pixel range.
