Former Creighton star wins in Olympic beach volleyball debut

The former Creighton star made school history by winning her first Olympic appearance Saturday. Taryn Kluth is Creighton’s first Olympian, and in her debut with partner Kristin Nuss, they defeated Canadian duo Sophie Borkovec and Heather Bansley 2-0 at the Eiffel Tower. The U.S. beach volleyball duo is ranked No. 2 in the world, while Team Canada is ranked No. 22. Kluth and Nuss return to the court Monday at 3 p.m. to play against Mariavi Artacho and Taliqua Clancy of Australia, ranked No. 21 in the world. The former Creighton star made school history by winning in her Olympic debut on Saturday.

Taryn Kluth is the first Olympian to hail from Creighton, and in her debut with partner Kristen Noss, they defeated Canadian duo Sophie Borkovec and Heather Bansley 2-0 at the Eiffel Tower.

The US beach volleyball duo is ranked second in the world, while Canada is ranked 22nd.

Kluth and Noss return to the court on Monday at 3pm to play against Mariavi Artacho and Taliqua Clancy of Australia, who are ranked 21st in the world.

The Australian duo pulled off a surprise win over eighth-seeded Chinese duo Chen Xue and Shen Yixia on Saturday.
