FedEx and UPS are warning that mail delivery may be halted due to a winter storm

FedEx and UPS have announced that mail delivery may be disrupted due to a massive winter storm moving across the United States after major distribution centers were hit by severe weather.

on Friday, FedEx published A statement to their website warns those who have used the Express service that the guaranteed delivery date of December 26 may not be met after the Memphis and Indianapolis hub was hit by “significant” weather disturbances.

The shipping company said measures have been taken to minimize any impact on delivery, but that the safety of its team members is the “number one priority”.

“We recognize the importance of deliveries this weekend, and we are committed to providing the service to the best of our ability by implementing emergency measures where it is safe and possible to do so,” the statement read.

FedEx recommended keeping up with the Service Alerts page for updates as well as tracking shipments.

The company reminded customers that shipments delayed “due to inclement weather are not eligible for a refund or credit under the Money Back Guarantee policy.”

UPS issued a similar statement announcing that the weather affected its air and ground service, specifically at hubs in Louisville, Kentucky and Rockford, Illinois.

“We will work to ensure the safety of our staff while minimizing impacts on service. Contingency plans are in place to help ensure shipments reach their final destinations as quickly as conditions allow.”

The Parcel Service encouraged customers to keep abreast of the status of shipments on his website.

UPS also said that the UPS Service Warranty does not apply to shipments affected by weather-related disruption.

FOX Weather reported More than 150 million Americans were under a wintry weather alert on Friday morning. The weather also greatly affected transportation across the country with more than 26,000 flight delays and 5,927 cancellations, dozens of canceled routes via Amtrak and Greyhound.

The US Postal Service did not have any additional information regarding the effects of the winter storm as of Saturday morning.
