The husband of a newlyweds killed by a drunk driver on their wedding night was reportedly awarded $1.3 million in a settlement approved this week.
Eric Hutchinson will reportedly receive $863,300 — after attorneys’ fees and legal fees — from three bars near Charleston, South Carolina, as well as Progressive Auto Insurance and Enterprise Rent-A-Car in the death of his bride, Samantha Miller.
Hutchinson sued the companies after Jamie Lee Komoroski, 26, rammed an Enterprise rental car into the golf cart Miller, 34, and Hutchinson, 36, were in while driving away from their beachfront wedding in April 2023.
Hutchinson accused Bars in the wrongful death lawsuit of supervising Komoroski.
Investigators said Komoroski was driving drunk at 65 mph in a 25 mph zone when her Toyota Camry struck the back of the golf cart.
Komoroski was hit with four felonies, including reckless homicide.
She is out on bail and faces up to 25 years in prison.
