Alec Baldwin is sued for $25 million
Alec Baldwin (64) may be asking for a lot of money soon. A $25 million lawsuit has been filed against the American actor (including “Mission Impossible”). This was reported by the New York Post.
The claim for damages has nothing to do with the tragic loss of life on October 21, 2021.
About it: The story behind the current allegations provides enough material for a Hollywood film. On August 26, 2021, US Marine Riley McCollum († 20) was killed in a suicide attack in Afghanistan.. Baldwin reached out to the victim’s sister via Instagram and sent the family a check for $5,000, the New York Post reported.
In January 2022, things finally came to a head: Sister Royce McCallum posted a picture online to mark the first anniversary of the storming of the Capitol by a large crowd of anti-government protesters.
The actor, who is a staunch opponent of former President Donald Trump, is said not only to comment on the film. According to the report, the 64-year-old also wrote a message to the victim’s sister: “When I sent you the money for your brother out of true respect for his service to this country, I didn’t know you were one of the rioters of WW6. Jan.”
Baldwin posted the picture on her Instagram account, which has an estimated 2.5 million followers. According to the lawsuit, the “Departed” star allegedly referred to Ross McCollum’s involvement in the riot. But McCallum says he wasn’t at the Capitol that day.
It is there that the demand for 25 million dollars in damages has arisen. Because – according to the plaintiffs – the dead soldier’s sister received “hostile, aggressive and hateful messages” just like other family members. They were accused of being Nazis and racists. According to the case of “a dream”.
Indeed, the script states: “Alec Baldwin’s conduct was careless and reckless. He must have known that if he took the allegations he made against the plaintiffs to his millions of supporters, he would harm the plaintiffs.
The McCollums are now seeking a trial before a jury in upstate New York. It includes invasion of privacy, defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
This is the second case against the actor by the family. The chief was fired after being found incompetent by a Wyoming judge. Alec Baldwin lives in New York.
