The authorities say that more than 20 were killed in Israeli raids on the northern Gaza Strip

Israeli raids on northern Gaza on Sunday killed at least 22 people, most of them women and children, the Associated Press news agency reported, citing Palestinian officials.

This comes as Israeli operations continue in the affected and isolated area.

Reuters news agency said that a raid on the Jabalia refugee camp resulted in the deaths of 20 people, citing the official Palestinian news agency, Wafa.

Medics told Reuters that nine other people were killed in another strike on a school housing displaced Palestinian families in the Beach Camp in Gaza City.

Speaking about the situation in northern Gaza, UN Secretary-General António Guterres said he was “shocked by the horrific levels of deaths, injuries and destruction.”

Guterres stressed his call for “an immediate ceasefire, the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages, and accountability for crimes under international law.”

“The plight of Palestinian civilians besieged in northern Gaza is intolerable,” said spokesman for the Secretary-General, Stephane Dujarric, adding that repeated efforts to deliver essential supplies “continue to be rejected by the Israeli authorities, with a few exceptions, putting countless lives at risk.” at stake.”

Israeli forces say they are operating in northern Gaza to prevent Hamas activists from regrouping.

The latest attack has prompted some observers to accuse Israel of implementing a “surrender or starve” plan to expel Hamas from northern Gaza.
