US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has promised his supporters that they will only have to vote once. Elections will not be required in another four years.
US-Presidential candidate Donald Trump announced to the right-wing conservative group “Turning Point Action” that if he wins the election for the Republican Party they will not have to vote in four years. At an event in West Palm Beach, Florida, he told the crowd: “Christians, go vote. This one time. After that you don’t have to do it. Four more years. I’ll fix this. Everything will be alright! My dear Christians, you don’t have to vote anymore. I love you Christians.
Trump said that if he wins the election in November, he will “fix” the electoral system so that Republicans don’t need a “supermajority without fraud.” Among other things, he wants to abolish postal voting and allow voting only on election day.
Trump also announced that he would “reappoint rock-solid conservative judges who protect religious freedom.” During his last term in office, he filled several positions on the federal courts, and the Supreme Court now has a clear conservative majority.
The former US president said on his online network “Truth Social” on Saturday that he will continue to hold outdoor campaign events. The Secret Service agreed to “significantly strengthen” security precautions, he said two weeks after the assassination attempt on his life. “They are fully competent to do so,” he said, adding, “No one shall be prevented or hindered from freedom of expression or assembly.”
According to reports, after the assassination attempt, the Secret Service encouraged Trump’s campaign team to hold rallies at large indoor venues instead of outdoor events.
On July 13, Trump survived a bullet in his right ear during an assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania. One of the spectators was killed and two other rally participants were seriously injured. The alleged perpetrator, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, was shot and killed by a Secret Service sniper 26 seconds after he fired the first shot at Trump. The armed assailant positioned himself on the roof about 150 meters from the stage. He fired a total of eight bullets at the rally. The FBI classified the attack as a homicide.
The former president made the assassination a centerpiece of his election campaign. In his first campaign appearance since the attack, he said he had “taken a bullet for democracy” from his supporters.
Trump also said he would return to Butler for a “big and beautiful rally.” A 6,000-seat hockey arena in the US state of Minnesota is scheduled for Saturday for Trump and his running mate JT Vance.
