Disney plans to change the names of its skip-the-line passes and how they work at its Florida theme parks in late July.
Genie+ will be rebranded as “Lightning Lane Multi Pass” starting July 24. Disney said Tuesday. At the same time, the entertainment giant will begin referring to its Lightning Lane Single Pass as the “Lightning Lane Single Pass.”
The updated passes will “integrate features from our existing services and the previously offered FastPass+ service, giving guests the option to plan ahead and remove the hassle of planning during their vacation” in Florida, according to a Disney blog post.

Disney said it sought to change the two services after guests told the company that they “would prefer to have the option to do more planning before their day at the theme park.”

With both updated types of passes, Disney Resort hotel guests will be able to book attractions up to seven days in advance for their entire trip, provided it is less than two weeks long, the entertainment giant said. This possibility applies to guests at some other hotels as well.

The three-day advance purchase window will be for Disney World visitors who are not staying at qualifying hotels.
The Lightning Lane Multi Pass allows Disney World visitors to choose three attractions and view time slots in advance, Disney said. Attractions include Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion, Mission: SPACE and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, according to the company.

Lightning Lane Single Passes will also offer time periods before purchases are made. Examples of attractions where single entry passes can be used include TRON Lightcycle, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Avatar Flight of Passage.

Disney said it will not roll out all the updates to its Disneyland theme park in California.
Disney said the methods Disneyland customers use to “purchase, select, and redeem Lightning Lane tickets” there “will remain the same” as they are now.
Disney parks and experiences are a major source of revenue for the company.

Its domestic parks and experiences, which include Disney World and Disneyland, generated revenue of about $5.96 billion in the second quarter. Quarterly operating income for domestic parks and experiences was $1.6 billion.

For international parks and experiences, Disney saw $1.52 billion in revenue and $292 million in operating income for the same three-month period.
CEO Bob Iger said in May that the company is “focused on turbocharging growth through a number of long-term strategic investments” for its Experience division.
