Although coffee wakes you up, it also removes iron from the body. Lack of trace elements causes fatigue.

Iron plays an important role in cell formation and cellular respiration. By absorbing oxygen through the lungs, the trace element helps bind hemoglobin and distribute it through the blood throughout the body for energy. For example, the muscles in the human body are supplied with energy. However, iron deficiency can lead to various symptoms such as fatigue and lack of energy. This can be prevented by proper diet: At the same time, there are foods that rob the body of iron.

Constantly tired? If you have an iron deficiency, the following six foods should be consumed in moderation

If iron deficiency is already present, the trace element must usually be replaced with medication. To prevent this from happening in the first place, you should pay attention to your diet and avoid or consume the following foods in moderation, as they remove iron from the body:

  • Whole grain products: They are among the foods that contain phytic acid. Together with iron, they form compounds that reduce the absorption of important trace elements. In addition to whole grain products, corn, rice and soy products also contain this substance. However, soaking the grain before eating reduces the phytic acid.
  • Spinach, Cocoa and Chocolate: All three foods contain oxalates. Oxalates are salts of oxalic acid that are formed as a metabolic product in the human body and can be ingested through food. Oxalate limits iron absorption in the gut.
  • Coffee and Black Tea: Two of the classic iron scavengers are vegetable tannins and tannins. They inhibit the absorption of iron from food. People who already suffer from iron deficiency should drink only two drinks two hours after their last meal.
