Before the college football season began, many surrounded Week 7 as one of the highlights of the year thanks to a slate full of matchups between rivals. In conclusion, it’s safe to say that today lived up to the hype and beyond, delivering exciting results and bringing more clarity to the College Football Playoff picture.
No. 11 Notre Dame and No. 10 Clemson took care of their business, stifling Stanford and Wake Forest, respectively, in relatively drama-free affairs. Meanwhile, Alabama needed two late defensive stops — one after a two-point conversion and then another after a successful onside kick — to avoid a second straight upset against South Carolina.
Penn State rallied from two scores to hand Lincoln Riley and USC another disappointing Big Ten loss in overtime. Texas continued to impress with a 34-3 rout of rival Oklahoma and Pitt continued its surprising undefeated start with a win over Cal.
