Streeter has served under Dabo Sweeney since December 2014 as the quarterbacks coach for the Tigers. He spent the 2020 and 2021 seasons as Clemson’s passing game coordinator before being named offensive coordinator by Sweeney prior to the 2021 Cheez-It Bowl to replace Tony Elliott, now Virginia’s head coach. He played quarterback at Clemson from 1997 until 1999.
At the time Sweeney promoted Streeter and defensive coordinator Wes Goodwin, both internal staff, he said decisions took “30 seconds.”

Was this the right move?
Clemson’s offense was desperate for a reset this offseason from an X and O standpoint, which explains Swinney’s decision – in part. If the Tigers want to get back to being regulars in the college football playoff, their scheme definitely needs an upgrade. But Sweeney is also known for his loyalty and affinity for insider pitching, which makes the move all the more surprising, considering Streeter was only in the role for one season. Plus, before Streeter was promoted, Sweeney knew exactly what he was getting in a coach he’d been with for the past eight seasons. Expecting Streeter to completely turn around the Tigers’ fortunes from 2021 was probably unrealistic.
Streeter is a solid recruiter and has done an excellent job with Watson and Lawrence. But in the end, it was just too hard to ignore how predictable Clemson’s offense has become in 2022, and how hard Uiagalelei, a five-star prospect, has struggled.
