A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said Washington’s running back Brian Robinson Jr. is in stable condition after being shot in the lower limbs during a possible auto theft or armed robbery attempt in Washington.

A spokesperson, Dustin Sternbeck, confirmed that Robinson was the victim and that the shooting took place just before 6 p.m. Sunday on the 1000 block of H Street NE. Robinson was shot twice and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The injuries are believed not to be life threatening.

Police are looking into the possibility of an armed robbery or attempted car theft. They said they recovered the firearm at plot 700 of North 10th Street — about a block south of the shooting site — and were looking for two juveniles with shoulder-length braids. One of them was wearing a black or brown shirt with yellow smiling faces. No further details were immediately available.
