TCL Communication has unveiled the new BlackBerry Motion smartphone at an event on Sunday. The handset was announced at Gitex in Dubai for $463 approx, and will be available in select global markets this quarter.
The company asserts that the BlackBerry Motion can offer more than 32 hours of battery life with mixed usage. Other key specs on the handset include a 5.5-inch Full HD anti-scratch display. Another highlight of the device is the all-screen front panel, unlike previous BlackBerry phones that came with the proprietary QWERTY keypad.
Elsewhere, the handset also comes with IP67 dust and water resistance.
In terms of specs, the new BlackBerry motion is said to get powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor bundled with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. The handset will also come with BlackBerry’s rather lauded software suite of applications.
“While the initial launch of our newest BlackBerry smartphone will be limited, this is an exciting addition to our growing BlackBerry smartphone portfolio, setting a strong foundation for further portfolio and market growth in the years to come,” said Alain Lejeune, Global General Manager for BlackBerry Mobile.
In terms of design, the BlackBerry Motion sports a boxy, rectangular form factor. It also doesn’t follow the current industry-trend of bezel-free smartphones. The device also features a home Button housed at the bottom of the front panel with an embedded BlackBerry logo which also doubles as a fingerprint scanner.
The right edge houses three physical buttons for volume rockers, power/standby, as well as a dedicated key for assigning functions.
Also, it gets a 3.5mm headphone jack along with USB Type-C connectivity.
BlackBerry Motion goes on sale later this month in the Middle East. TCL probably has plans to release the handset in select markets before launching it in other major international markets. We’ll update you guys as soon we hear any developments about the handset’s global availability and pricing.
