Big Lots Closes Dozens of California Stores Amid Financial Pressure

Big Lots is expected to close stores across the country, and its stores in California are also expected to close.

The discount retailer said it will close dozens of stores across the country in Quarterly Report Submitted in June, but did not disclose information about which stores would be affected. The company said inflation, cost of goods, competitive and economic pressures had led to “significant uncertainty” about its store operations.

California has 109 Big Lots Stores, The second largest number of stores in the country after Texas (116). The company has 1,400 stores nationwide.

What stores will be closed in California?

A large “Closing” sign was posted at a Big Lots in Sacramento, about four miles from Sacramento State University. Signs displayed in the store advertised discounts of up to 20 percent.
