Shooting again in Serbia. A 21-year-old shot dead 8 people near Belgrade. The police arrest the criminal.

Updated as of May 5, 3:00 PM: “We will carry out the almost complete disarmament of Serbia,” head of state Aleksandar Vučić told a press conference. According to the government, 760,000 firearms are registered and 6.8 million people live in Serbia. Many weapons have been in circulation in the Balkans since the Yugoslav wars in the 1990s.

Now the Serbian government wants to start a disarmament campaign. There will be massive checks on registered weapons and action will be taken against those who possess illegal weapons.

Updated May 5, 8:58 am: Police arrested an alleged perpetrator after an attack near Belgrade that killed eight people. The arrests were made in the city of Kragujevac in central Serbia, about 100 kilometers from the crime scene, state television said. RTS and State News Agency Tanjore It reported on Friday morning, citing its own sources.

Shooting again in Serbia: 8 killed – Police are looking for the culprit

Updated as of May 5, 8:40 am: A man who shot a group of people near Belgrade on Thursday evening is on the run. Earlier reports suggested that the police had found the culprit and surrounded him. A large group of police are searching for a 21-year-old man who killed eight people in a village in Serbia.

More than 600 police, including members of counter-terrorism units with helicopters, drones and thermal imaging cameras, were deployed on Friday morning, the state news agency said. Tanjore reported.

Man opens fire on people near Belgrade – at least eight dead

Report from Friday, May 5, 5:55 am: BELGRADE – It’s the second act in two days: A man in Serbia opened fire on a group of people in rapid fire, killing eight of them. Thirteen people were injured in Thursday evening’s incident in Dubona village, 50 kilometers southeast of Belgrade. This was reported by the state news agency Tanjore Citing police.

The suspected shooter fled the scene. The police launched an intensive search and found his whereabouts. A large number of policemen surrounded the 21-year-old. The operation continued till Friday morning.

Shooting in Serbia: Interior minister speaks of “terrorist act”

The attackers sat unsuspectingly on a bench in the center of the village, according to the newspaper’s website Flash. The accused shot her dead from a vehicle.

Initially nothing was known about the motive for the bloody act. According to unconfirmed media reports, the victims included a police officer and the accused’s sister. Interior Minister Bratislava Kecic visited the scene of the events on Friday night. He described the act as an “act of terrorism”. At first he did not elaborate.

Serbia was rocked by the Belgrade school massacre on Wednesday. A 13-year-old student shot dead 8 classmates and a security guard. The police then arrested him. Because of his age, the perpetrator has not yet reached the age of criminality in Serbia. The Serbian government then suspended the issuance of firearms licenses for two years. (asc/dpa)
