In what may come across as a total surprise, Asus on Thursday unveiled a total of six ZenFone 4 models at an event held in Taipei. The new ZenFone range includes the ZenFone 4, ZenFone 4 Pro, ZenFone 4 Selfie, ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro, ZenFone 4 Max, and ZenFone 4 Max Pro.

The cheapest of the lot, the ZenFone 4 Max, comes with a 5.2-inch display with a resolution of 720×1280 pixels. Under the hood, it gets powered by the a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor coupled with 3GB of RAM, Adreno 308 GPU, and offers 32GB of built-in storage.

In the camera department, the handset features a dual lens camera (13MP+5MP) on the back. While juicing up the smart phone is a 4100mAh battery.

Coming on to its larger sibling, the ZenFone 4 Max Pro sports a 5.5-inch 720p display. Powering the device is a Snapdragon 430 processor bundled with Adreno 505 GPU. It is offered in 3GB/4GB RAM variants.

The ZenFobe Max Pro also gets a slightly upgraded dual camera setup with 16MP+16MP with f/2.0 aperture. Also, it features a bigger 5000mAh battery.

The cream of the crop are the ZenFone 4 Selfie and ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro. As the name suggests, both handsets are designed for selfie fans. On the front, the ZenFone 4 Selfie features a 20MP+8MP selfie camera while the ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro has a 24MP+5MP front facing camera setup with LED flash. On the back, however, both handsets feature the same 16MP camera with auto-focus and a dua-LED flash.

Both handsets come with the same 5.5-inch screen size, but the ZenFone 4 Selfie gets a 720p resolution while the ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro comes with a Full HD display. Both models come with 4GB of RAM though with different chipset models. The ZenFone 4 Selfie runs the Snapdragon 430 processor, while its Pro sibling comes with a more powerful Snapdragon 625 processor.

Last but not the least, the ZenFone 4 and ZenFone 4 Pro are the flagship models of the series. The ZenFone 4 features a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS LCS display with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass. The phone is offered in two variants – one powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor with 4G of RAM, while the other comes with Snapdragon 630 and 6GB of RAM. Elsewhere, the handset offers 64GB of built-in storage and dual lens primary camera (12MP+8MP). For selfies, the ZenFone 4 features an 8MP front-facing shooter with f/2.0 aperture. Powering all the aforementioned hardware will be a 3300mAh battery.

The larger ZenFone 4 Pro is the new flagship of the ZenFone 4 Pro series. It gets powered by the latest Snapdragon 835 processors bundled with 6GB of RAM. It is offered in a choice of 64GB and 128GB storage options.

Elsewhere, the dual camera system on the back consists of 12MP+16MP lenses with OIS, PDAF, and laser auto focus. For selfies, there’s an 8MP front facing shooter with f/1.9 aperture.

As for the price, ZenFone 4 Pro costs $599 (€510), ZenFone 4 $399 (€340), ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro $379 (€322), ZenFone 4 Selfie $279 (€237), ZenFone 4 Max Pro $295 (€250), and ZenFone 4 Max $235 (€200). That being said, the exact specifications and prices will differ by region, which will be announced in the near future.
