Mazda’s first Carplay with Android Auto-compatible model will be 2018 Mazda6 which is a mid-size sedan. This was announced at the New York International Auto Show where Mazda revealed a range of new cars and corporate initiatives.
ON Mazda6 model CarPlay will be on Touring, Grand Touring, Grand Touring Reserve, and Signature trim levels. Apple’s in-car connectivity interface is going to get displayed on an 8-inch screen which runs Mazda Connect. Mazda6 is introduced at the LA Auto Show in 2017 and it is rolling its dealerships during this spring.the customers who are having the Mazda6 before CarPlay availability can upgrade their Mazda connect system to get this feature.
Mazda is planning to begin to sell its old model vehicles with CarPlay and Android Auto refit with Mazda Connect. The company in a statement said that they will do retroactive upgrades earlier this month. The company cannot give the details about the upgrade or the cost of the retrofit. The package will be in line with the current offerings from the car makers. For example, Former Mazda partner Ford is offering a CarPlay upgrade route for owners with a Sync of 3 infotainment systems at a nominal charge. This package includes a compatible USB port and software enhancements.
A press release from the Mazda’s Canadian branch says that the CarPlay will appear in the 2019 CX-9 when it will be arriving in the Great White North during this summer. There is no information about the CarPlay access in other regions but as per the company, the technology will roll out to the entire model line-up after the launch of CX-9. Mazda is the last manufacturer to adopt the CarPlay. Toyota already announced the first CarPlay model will be 2019 Corolla Hatchback which will be on the sale from this summer.
