Anne Hathaway apologizes to a reporter for a Cringe interview from 2012

Anne Hathaway sent an apology to a journalist after a disturbing 2012 interview together appeared online. Norwegian entertainment journalist Kjersti Flaa posted a video from the “Les Miserables” press junket where Hathaway was succinct with some of her answers and dropped Flaa’s offer to sing along for one of the Q&A. Hathaway’s co-stars, Hugh Jackman and Eddie Redmayne, agreed to Fla’s request to sing, but Hathaway said: “Well, I won’t do it, but you’re welcome to sing.”

“I got an email yesterday. It was from Anne Hathaway’s publicist, and he sent me a message from Anne Hathaway. I have to say I was pretty shocked,” Fla said. “I wasn’t expecting her to reach out to me at all. She thought she would never see this video, but she did. And you did something very cool.

“She sent me a long email explaining what she was going through at the time when she did that interview, and apologizing for being… giving me a terrible interview, basically. It was very emotional for me,” Fla continued. “Just talking about it makes me almost cry because I was so grateful that she did it.”

Fla didn’t want to reveal the full email to her viewers, but she said Hathaway sent a “very personal note” and also invited Fla to interview her next time she releases a big movie in 2025.

“I’m really looking forward to it, Anne,” Fla said.
