AMD’s next-generation Ryzen 9000 “Zen 5” desktop processors have been listed online again and are priced significantly lower than the Ryzen 7000 MSRP.
AMD Ryzen 9000 “Zen 5” desktop CPUs may offer insane value on the AM5 platform Based on the latest retail listings, the 9950X is €190 cheaper than the suggested retail price of the 7950X
A few days ago, we reported on the first retail listings for AMD’s Ryzen 9000 “Zen 5” desktop processors. Now, a new retailer has listed all four chips including the Ryzen 9 9950X, Ryzen 9 9900X, Ryzen 7 9700X, and Ryzen 5 9600X available for pre-order with availability starting August 2, just days after the official launch planned for July 31.
According to retail listing by Your artAll four chips are listed with their pre-order prices, though we can’t confirm if these are official or not. What we can say is that they appear to be significantly lower than the manufacturer’s recommended retail prices for the Ryzen 7000 “Zen 4” desktop processors at launch, so let’s start with the first chips first.
The AMD Ryzen 9 9950X 16-Core CPU is listed at €659.90, which is €190 cheaper than the official MSRP of the Ryzen 9 7950X, which sold for €849 at launch. It’s also significantly lower than the €789.99 MSRP of the Ryzen 9 7950X3D at launch. Both Ryzen 7000 chips have certainly seen a bunch of discounts since then, with the same retailer offering these chips for €600.15 (Ryzen 9 7950X3D) and €550.18 (Ryzen 9 7950X). The prices are much closer to the discounted prices, which will be great for new PC builders planning to make the switch to Zen 5 CPUs.
Next, we have the 12-core AMD Ryzen 9 9900X CPU which is listed at €499.90, which is €170 cheaper than the official retail price of the Ryzen 9 7900X and €180 cheaper than the official retail price of the Ryzen 9 7900X3D. Again, this is a significant price drop for a 12-core CPU and should be very competitive against Intel’s higher-end Core i9 offerings.
Moving further down the stack, we have the AMD Ryzen 7 9700X octa-core processor listed at €399.90. This is a price point that is €80 lower than the Ryzen 9 7900X and €110 cheaper than the official MSRP of the Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPUs. Keep in mind that this CPU may get an update with a higher TDP of 120W as we mentioned here as AMD wants to showcase the Zen 5 performance advantage in gaming and by increasing the TDP, it may be able to take on its popular 7800X3D processor which is one of its best-selling processors. Currently on the market.
Finally, we have the Ryzen 5 9600X listed at €309.90, which is also a drop of €50 compared to the official retail price of the Ryzen 5 7600X which retailed for €359. So if we compare the listed retail prices to the official retail prices of the Ryzen 7000 Desktop CPUs, we can see that there is a significant reduction across the board as shown in the table below:
List of AMD Ryzen 9000 “Zen 5” Desktop Processors (Funtech):
CPU name | Listed price | Ryzen 7000 Management Systems Renewal Project | Ryzen 7000 (current) | Ryzen 7000X3D (Manufacturer Recommended Price) | Ryzen 7000X3D (current) | vs predecessor (non-X3D) |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Ryzen 9 9950X | 569.90 euros | 7950X (€849) | 550.18 euros | 7950X3D (789 euros) | 600.15 euros | – 190 euros |
Ryzen 9 9900X | 499.90 euros | 7900X (€669) | 399.81 euros | 7900X3D (€679) | 425.25 euros | – 170 euros |
Ryzen 7 9700X | 399.90 euros | 7700X (€479) | 331.54 euros | 7800X3D (€509) | 368.21 euros | – 80 euros |
Ryzen 5 9600X | 309.90 euros | 7600X (359 euros) | 219.12 euros | Unavailable | nothing | – 50 euros |
- Ryzen 9 9950X (List) vs. Ryzen 9 7950X Official Manufacturer Recommended Price = -32.9%
- Ryzen 9 9900X (List) vs Ryzen 9 7900X Official MSRP = -25.4%

- Ryzen 5 9600X (List) vs Ryzen 5 9600X Official MSRP = -13.9%
We know these prices are still preliminary listings at the moment but if they are anywhere near final pricing, existing and new AM5 PC builders are in for a nice surprise. It also means we could see similar price points for the next-gen Ryzen 9000X3D 3D V-Cache parts which are expected to launch a few months after the “X” launches.
