The third-gen Focus was introduced before seven years will be replaced by an all-new model of Focus. In a move by Ford company, it chooses to unveil the 2019 Ford Focus in a standalone event on April 10 thus by skipping the Geneva Auto Show. This move by the company is said to be done to grab the attention all people which is not the case at the show.
The car was first launched during the year 1998 and the car took the world by storm with its new fresh stylish and top-notch handling along with sorted chassis and multi-link rear suspension in the C-segment. In late 1999 the car was available as a three-door hatch, four-door sedan, and a wagon. The second gen Focus arrived during the year 2007 with Euro-spec model and two-door coupe and four-door sedan versions.
Last December a number of prototypes were rolled out for the Blue Oval. The car got a colorful wrap which gave us the first glimpse of the production model’s design and it comes with a hashtag #TimeToFocus. The design of the car is totally different to the current third-gen car. The result, however, believes us of Korean model like Hyundai i30. The designers of the Ford seems to go for a modern look which looks like a mixture of different styling cues.
The new fourth-gen Focus is totally redesigned but it will have a modified version of its predecessors global C-platform. It will have good dynamics and an increase in footprint which will bring a more space to the cabin and weigh to go down. The power of the car will be directed towards the front wheels which will be done through five or six-speed manual or dual-clutch transmission. The European market is going to have a turbocharged Ecoboost unit with 1.0-liter three-cylinder, 1.5-liter four. North America will continue to get 123hp 1.0-liter turbo three and 160hp 2.0-liter four.
The dashboard of the new model will have a floating display along with a series of buttons which is present right underneath. It will be followed by the center air vents and climate control. It will come with a full suite of driver assist systems which will help in giving a warning about collision and pedestrian, automatic emergency breaking etc.
The third Focus RS will have 2.3-liter four which power the base Mustang. The new Focus RS will be launch in 2020 with 400HP and might be in the electrification form.
When a new car model is launched it always said that the model uses high-end material than its previous version even though they are not using it. According to Ford CEO Jim Hackett, he said that the sales of the new Ford Focus may be low as compared to the current Ford model as many customers are now going for the SUV variants. Worldwide sale of Focus will begin in the second half of the year and the release date of each market will be announced on April 10, 2018.
