Fans are concerned for Alicia Silverstone after she posted a video on TikTok where she appears to be picking a poisonous fruit from a plant and eating it.

According to a video posted on Monday, the “Clueless” actor found the fruit — which looks similar to an orange cherry tomato — in England.

“Okay, I’ve discovered something I can’t understand and I need your help,” Silverstone said in the video, addressing the crowd. “I bit it because it was in the street and we were discussing whether it was a tomato or not.”

The fruit appears to contain seeds similar to those found in peppers.

The actress, who is a vegetarian, said she did not think it was a tomato because of the shape of the plant’s leaves.

“So what is this? Because when you open it up it looks like this,” she said, revealing a mashed fruit on the ground. “And if you bite into it, I don’t think you’re supposed to eat it, but it almost looks like a pepper? Does anyone know what this is?”

Fans were quick to identify the fruit as a Jerusalem cherry, a cherry native to South America that is poisonous, according to GardeningKnowHow.com.

“Despite their bright colors, the fruit of the Jerusalem cherry plant is poisonous and should be kept out of the reach of curious children and pets,” the site warns. “Any part of the plant eaten can cause poisoning and even death.”

Eating Jerusalem cherries can affect the digestive system and central nervous system, which may lead to stomach pain, fever, diarrhea, paralysis, slowed breathing and delirium among other things, according to Medline Plus..

Fans expressed their concern for Silverstone in her TikTok comments.

“Can someone please tag me when we know she is ok,” one commenter wrote.

“Why would anyone eat random, unknown things off the street?!” wrote another.

As of Tuesday morning, there had been no update on social media. A representative for Silverstone did not immediately respond to a request for comment from NBC News.

The actress, known for her work in the 1995 hit comedy “Clueless,” released a vegan cookbook in 2009 called “The Kind Diet,” in which she encourages readers to adopt plant-based eating habits.

“By eating this way, you will become stronger,” Silverstone writes on her website TheKindLife.com. “Your immune system will function more efficiently as excess fat and toxins are flushed out of your body.”
