Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered players on PC will be required to register via their PSN accounts to play the single-player adventure on Steam.
As noted on Valve storefront for PC And spotted before IGNjust like other notable PlayStation-flavored Steam releases like Helldivers 2, Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut, and God of War Ragnarök, players will not be able to play Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered on PC without a PSN account.
Although the Steam page for Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition is still up, it is no longer available for purchase after Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition was quietly removed from Steam and the Epic Games Store at the end of September.
This means that there is now no legal way to play Horizon Zero Dawn on Steam without purchasing the remastered bundle… which controversially requires a PSN account.
Unhappy Steam players have already taken to the game Steam Discussions hub to express their dismay, with one title for their topic: “Requires [sic] PSN Account – Insta Ignored”.
“So you want me to give you money – to give you my information… in exchange for a few updated drawings.” He added last. “You can keep your remaster.”
It all goes back to the beginning of the summer with Helldivers’ PC PSN login requirements. There was such a scathing backlash that Sony backed away from its original plans and then automatically refunded players who purchased Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut in countries where PSN was not available.
Games like Helldivers 2 were subsequently pulled from sale in 177 countries following the disastrous rollout of mandatory PSN linking, causing significant backlash and major review bombing.
The removal from the PC storefront came less than two weeks after Sony announced a remaster of Horizon Zero Dawn would be released on October 31 across PlayStation 5 and PC.
