The reaction to the PS5 Pro announcement has been horrific. While system engineer Mark Cerny did a good job presenting the device, the $700/£700 price point sparked obscene backlash. At the time, only 9.7% of respondents said they would pre-order the console at any one time Payment yard reconnaissance. This is a dire consequence for a site full of enthusiasts.
However, opinions seem to have declined since then. Make no mistake, there is still a vocal group that doesn’t think there’s a benefit to the platform, but in the wake of pre-orders starting, 39% say they’ve joined the platform. This is a dramatic swing compared to the initial reaction.
It is worth noting that the majority (44.4%) still do not plan to purchase the upgrade, but even those who hold out until a later date have increased. In the poll following our announcement, just 6.6% said they would consider buying a PS5 Pro after launch – while 15.7% now say they are either saving or waiting to launch the system.
So, what has changed? Well, we’re starting to see real analysis of the console from experts like Digital Foundry, who have described the device as a “good investment.” Some of the improvements to games like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth are proving to be exciting, and more and more software is being confirmed to support the device.
