Princess Catherine, Princess of Wales, has made her first public appearance since announcing the end of her chemotherapy treatment.
Kate, 42, who is married to heir to the British throne Prince William, resumed her duties by hosting a meeting at Windsor Castle on Tuesday.
“The Princess of Wales, joint patron of the Royal Foundation of the Prince and Princess of Wales, held a meeting of the early years this afternoon at Windsor Castle,” according to a post in the Royal Court Bulletin, which officially documents events undertaken by the royal family either in public or behind palace walls.
Kate gave a health update last week, confirming that she is “doing everything she can to stay cancer-free” and beginning “a new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation for life.”
In a deeply personal video message, showing the family enjoying the English summer together, the princess said the past nine months had been difficult but “I am nevertheless looking forward to getting back to work and doing some more public engagements in the coming months when I can”.
No further details of the meeting were recorded in the court’s official bulletin, but Kate has for years focused on early childhood development, which her aides have previously described as her “life’s work.”

In 2021, the Royal Foundation launched the Early Childhood Centre, and one of its flagship initiatives is its public awareness campaign, Shaping Us, which seeks to improve our collective understanding of the importance of the first five years of life in shaping the adults we become.
Kate has been receiving chemotherapy for an unspecified type of cancer since February, and has been seen in public only a handful of times in the months since.
She joined the royal family for the King’s birthday celebrations, known as Trooping the Colour, in June, and received a standing ovation a month later when she attended the men’s singles final at Wimbledon with her daughter Princess Charlotte.
Kate is understood to have been working from home while receiving treatment, taking part in meetings with her team and representatives from the early care centre.
While she will continue to focus on her recovery in the coming months, it is understood that she will resume a light schedule of public engagements for the rest of the year.
She is also expected to attend the annual Remembrance Day service at the Cenotaph in London in November, to honour those who served in the war.
