There is an ongoing display issue in Google Search affecting a significant number of users searching in the Google app on Android. We are working to determine the root cause. The next update will be released in 12 hours.
Opening the Google app via the home screen icon will cause the app to crash. You will see the app loading briefly before returning to the home screen. The Google search bar widget temporarily displays your previous queries before the crash.
The Pixel Launcher search bar continues to work to find the device, but briefly entering a query loads the results page before crashing.
Google Discover (on the left of the home screen) will not launch, while tapping the voice search microphone will also stop the Google app.
After repeatedly trying to launch the app, Android displays the message “Google keeps stopping.”

We see this problem crippling with Latest version (15.35) Beta versions (15.36) of the Google Search app on Android 15, 14, and (presumably) earlier. Google Pixel, Samsung Galaxy, and other Android devices are affected.
Google Assistant (voice commands), Gemini, Google Lens, and even Circle to Search still work, while google.com via Chrome for Android works normally, so that’s a workaround. You can also use the Gemini app.
No other platforms are affected. Therefore, we believe this is a Google app specific issue on Android. Google Search — along with all other third-party services, such as YouTube, Gmail, Drive, Docs, etc. — continues to operate normally as of Saturday evening/Sunday morning.
This would compare the issue to the WebView issue in 2021, but only the Google app is affected. However, the Google app is responsible for running many services on Android.
Google keeps stopping or disabling workarounds.
There is no clear solution as of this evening, but Google.com It still works in Chrome and other mobile browsers.
Older versions of the Google app are also affected, so you can’t use App Info > Uninstall updates (which causes other issues) to get everything working again.
