Not only did Trump say when he appeared in front of the cameras that “100 percent of the new jobs created” would be taken by immigrants, 350,000 more people in the U.S. registered as unemployed in July. In a postscript he adds: “The number is actually much higher than that, well over 100 percent.”

The news site reports that Trump has already drawn attention to the lies during a press conference at Mar-a-Lago and an hour-long appearance. According to one estimate 162 fact-checkers from the NPR broadcast network requested false and distorted material. These included a story about a helicopter crash that Trump’s fellow passenger dismissed as a fairy tale, and Trump’s claim that the US economy was facing an imminent collapse and was “economically at the most dangerous point in its history”. According to NPR, the latter can be easily disproved with current GDP figures.
