  • Lamborghini replaces the Huracan sports car with the Timerario hybrid.
  • The Temerario has a V-8 engine and three electric motors for 920 horsepower, and has a top speed of 211 mph.
  • The V-8 engine revs to 10,000 rpm, and the battery pack has a capacity of 3.8 kilowatt-hours.

The Lamborghini Huracan is gone, which means its glorious, naturally aspirated V-10 engine is dead, too. But Lamborghini fans need not worry, as there’s a new supercar from Sant’Agata Bolognese that promises to be even more exciting: Meet the Lamborghini Timerio.

Lamborghini calls the Temerario a high-performance electric vehicle, or HPEV, and it’s powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 hybrid engine and three electric motors. Total output is 920 horsepower, and the Temerario takes just 2.7 seconds to reach 62 mph. Top speed is 211 mph.

Lamborghini built this new V-8 engine from scratch. It features a 90-degree “Hot V” configuration and a flat-plane crankshaft, with twin turbochargers operating at a maximum pressure of 36 psi. Aluminum alloy cylinder heads and titanium connecting rods help keep weight down, while diamond-like carbon (DLC)-coated fingers in the valve train ensure the engine can rev to 10,000 rpm.

Three axial-flow, oil-cooled electric motors join the V-8. Lamborghini placed the rear motor between the engine and the transversely mounted eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. This electric motor alone produces 150 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque. The other two motors, located on the front axle, drive the front wheels and generate 82 horsepower each. Yes, this new Lamborghini is all-wheel drive—but don’t worry, there’s a “Drift Mode” function that deploys torque to the rear wheels in three varying power levels. The Timereo also has a launch control function.

The battery pack has a capacity of 3.8 kilowatt-hours. Plug the Temerario into a conventional AC charging port with up to 7 kilowatts of power, and the battery will recharge in 30 minutes. It can also be recharged through regenerative braking, or directly from the V-8 engine in less than 6 minutes. You can drive using the front electric motors exclusively, but Lamborghini doesn’t list the Temerario’s EV driving range.

Visually, the Temerario looks like a mix of the larger Revuelto and the outgoing Huracán. The headlights occupy a small sliver of each corner of the hood—they’re even slimmer than the Huracán’s—and the modern hexagonal LEDs sit just below them on either side of the front bumper. The Temerario rides on staggered 20- and 21-inch wheels, with forged or carbon-fiber options.

In terms of appearance, the Temerario is not as elegant as the Huracán. It features a larger air intake just ahead of the rear wheels, which improves downforce by 103% compared to the Huracán Evo.

The lightweight Temerario Alleggerita package—with a larger rear wing, unique bumper treatments, and a carbon-fiber wing—debuts at launch and touts a 158 percent increase in downforce compared to the Huracán Evo, and a 55-pound weight reduction over the standard Temerario. Add the Carbon Pack, and you’ll lose another 4 pounds through carbon use on the rear diffuser, mirror caps, and side air intakes.

Under the skin is a new lightweight chassis. Instead of the Huracán’s aluminum and carbon fiber chassis, the Temerario’s chassis is made entirely of aluminum. This results in a 50 percent reduction in material use, an 80 percent reduction in the number of hot-welded joints, and a 20 percent increase in torsional rigidity. It also helps keep weight down.

Inside, the Tememerario features a cockpit-like cabin filled with hexagonal elements. Headroom improves by 1.3 inches over the Huracán, and legroom improves by up to 1.8 inches. Lamborghini says even a 6-foot-6 basketball player can wear a helmet in this car.

The car has an 8.4-inch vertical touchscreen in the middle of the dashboard, while the driver has access to a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, while the passenger has a slightly smaller 9.1-inch touchscreen.

The only thing we don’t know yet is how much the Lamborghini Timerio will cost. The outgoing Huracan Evo started at around $300,000 in the US, so it wouldn’t be out of the question for the Timerio to be priced around $400,000 or even $500,000. We’ll know more about the Lamborghini Timerio when it goes on sale later this year or in early 2025.
