Rob Schneider has responded to the inappropriate comments his daughter Elle King recently made about him.

In a clip from a podcast hosted by right-wing commentator Tucker Carlson, the former president said: Saturday Night Live The star addressed his daughter with apologies and positive affirmations. “It’s fun being a father, isn’t it?” Schneider joked after Carlson brought up the subject. “I want to say to my daughter, ‘El, I love you, and I wish I was the father I needed in my 20s, and I clearly wasn’t. And I hope you can forgive me for my shortcomings.’”

The king’s representatives did not immediately respond. Entertainment WeeklyRequest comment.

King recently made headlines for sharing some candid memories about growing up with her father. “My dad sent me to fat camp,” she said in an interview. Bonnie Exo stupid blonde Podcast“Then I got into trouble one year because I sprained my ankle and didn’t lose any weight… very toxic and very ridiculous.”

The “Ex’s and Oh’s” singer also noted that she disagrees with a lot of her father’s social and political beliefs, many of which tend toward extreme conservatives. “You’re talking out of your ass and talking about lesbianism, you know, and anti-gay rights, like you have sex,” she said. “He’s just talking out of his ass, and I want to take this opportunity to say that I disagree with him! I don’t agree with what he’s saying!”

King also said she could go “four or five years” without speaking to Schneider, and that he had previously told her, “Don’t talk about me in the press.”

On Carlson’s podcast, Schneider sent more positivity toward his daughter. “I love you so much, I love you completely, and I just want you to be well and happy with you and your beautiful baby, Lucky. I wish you the best. I feel terrible, and I just want you to know that I don’t take anything you say personally,” he said.

Carlson asked the comedian and anti-vaccine advocate why he didn’t turn the conversation into a fight. “So when your daughter attacks you in public, how hard is it not to do that — not make any excuses or blame her or respond in kind. How hard is that?” the host said.

Schneider said he’s a lover, not a fighter. “If you love someone completely, you just — I love him and all I want is for him to be happy and to recover from this.”
