Kate Middleton was spotted leaving Windsor Castle on Monday with Prince William.

The Princess of Wales, 42, who is recovering from abdominal surgery, was pictured in a black Land Rover to accompany her husband on the trip to Westminster Abbey, where the prince will attend the annual Commonwealth Day Mass without her.

This was the princess's first public appearance in more than two months after surgery, and Kate's last appearance was on Christmas Day while attending church at Sandringham.

The Princess of Wales is not expected to return to public duties until after the Easter weekend.

Kate's absence from the public eye sparked conspiracies about her health, which worsened when the princess posted an edited photo of herself and her children, forcing her to issue an apology on Monday morning.

“Like many amateur photographers, I sometimes experiment with editing. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion caused by the family photo we shared yesterday,” the princess wrote on X.

Kate tweeted her apologies after leading photo agencies – including Reuters, Associated Press, Getty and Agence France-Presse – pulled the photo due to numerous signs suggesting it had been altered.

The edited photo showed the princess smiling happily with her three children – Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5 – and served as Kate's first official photo since her surgery.

The Royal Palace claimed the photo was taken by Prince William last week.

Along with Kate, King Charles will also not attend the event, but will speak in a pre-recorded video to praise the formation of the British Empire and the modern United Kingdom.

Charles (75 years old) was forced to postpone his public appearance while undergoing treatment for an unspecified type of cancer.
