“Saturday Night Live” sent out a series of Republican satires cheering on “loser” Jim Jordan after the Ohio congressman’s third and final vote to become the next speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives failed.
“How did you lose? This is a mess. Some of us are here to actually serve the American people. “All I want to do is get Congress back to work so I can shut it down again.”
In the sketch, former President Donald Trump (played by James Austin Johnson) clumsily tries to explain why he disappeared after endorsing Jordan (Mickey Day) to replace former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy: “It’s because I prefer Jordans who win,” he says. Trump, with the name check “The Great Michael Jordan or even the Greatest Jordin Sparks.”
Jordan complains that he did exactly what Trump would have done, including “intimidation” and “threats,” and doesn’t understand why that didn’t work. “Well, because honestly it’s not me, okay?” Trump says. “You’re no fun. I’m excited. …I’m Coke and you’re Shasta.”
“But you backed me and I still lost,” Jordan points out. “That seems to happen a lot,” Trump admits.
“You can’t give up because this is America,” the former president says. “What a beautiful nation. What a wonderful nation. Not much in terms of people. There are very bad and strange people. But don’t we love our country? What a terrible place.”
Trump is offering to run for Speaker of the House himself, if he’s not too busy with his campaign tour of the US court system: “I’m doing great things for the courts.”
Also on hand to offer comedic solace were Republican U.S. Reps. George Santos (Bowen Young), who receives a call from Tupac Shakur to eat with Jada Pinkett Smith, and Lauren Boebert (Chloe Fineman), who is groped by an off-screen companion during a vision of “Aladdin.” On Broadway.

“Hold it, hold it!” He says before taking charge. “This is not for losers.”
