The US Geological Survey said the earthquake’s magnitude reached 6.3.

LONDON – A 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck western Afghanistan early Sunday morning, the US Geological Survey said.

The quake, whose epicenter was about 30 kilometers (18 miles) northwest of Herat, followed a series of powerful tremors that killed more than a thousand people.

The US Geological Survey said: “This earthquake was preceded by three other earthquakes with a magnitude of 6.3 in the previous days.” a permit. “One M6.3 occurred on October 11 and two more occurred about 30 minutes apart on October 7.”

The US Geological Survey statement said Sunday’s earthquake was recorded at a depth of 6.3 kilometers along the same fault levels struck by the last four earthquakes.
