Stephen A. Smith ended up with his sweetheart New York Knicks after a 111-106 net loss Wednesday evening at Madison Square Garden.
The ESPN character exploded after the match, in what was arguably the funniest yet, claiming the Knicks aren’t happy with their head coach Tom Thibodeau.
“The New York Knicks are a national disgrace, ladies and gentlemen,” Smith said on “NBA on ESPN” in a nearly three-minute talk alongside Galen Rose, Mike Greenberg and Michael Welbone, after the team Dawn advances 28 points.
“Tibs, we hear that the Knicks as an organization aren’t so fond of him these days. He might be out. I don’t care if we go tonight.”
With the crosstown rivalry airing on ESPN, viewers were treated to Smith’s raw reaction to the post-game show.
Smith did not place all the blame on Thibodeau.
“Julius Randle is done with it,” he shouted about the Knicks forward, who scored 31 points, 10 rebounds and three assists in the loss.
“Leon Rose – We’ve had inmates at State Corrections more obvious than this guy. He’s the head of basketball operations and we can’t find this guy. It’s rubbish, horrible… Sixteen points in the fourth quarter. New York Knicks rubbish.”
On Wednesday, the Knicks faced a Nets who were without the new Big Three in Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and Ben Simmons, but managed to rebound from a 28-point delay led by rookie Cameron Thomas. The 20-year-old put in 21 points, four rebounds and two assists.

Smith went on to insist that the famous Knicks fans should boycott the team.
“Spike Lee shouldn’t even be showing up for the rest of the season. Tracy Morgan don’t go, don’t go,” Smith said. You are awesome. I’m done with this team. You just stink. Excuses only. I’m officially embarrassed because there’s a video of me saying last year I’m talking about the New York jump…I wish Nick’s fans would boycott this team…I don’t want to go to the park. I don’t want to drive my car by the park.”
After the loss, Thibodeau predicted the upcoming changes.
“Everything is on the table now,” he said, at ESPN. “It has to be. And it has to be merit-based. I’m not going to give minutes just to give minutes. So that doesn’t happen. You win what you get.”
The Knicks (25-34) host the Heat (37-21) on Friday evening.
