you know Allison Williams From, among others, the classic HBO show girls.
You may not know, however, that in her early acting days, Allison had a brief appearance on another HBO show, Corridor Empire — and it didn’t seem like her experience on set was too great.
While recently appearing on the “Women Behind the Words” panel at the Nantucket Film Festival (via IndieWire), Alison got real about what a crew member told her as well as how it reflects public attitudes toward female-identifying people in Hollywood.
Alison said she was a stand-in for the show’s pilot, and that being a part of it was “the coolest experience ever”. “A great pilot,” she said. “It was caught on film. It was amazing.”
However, Alison then recalled the experience she had while in craft services on set. “One crew member came over and said, ‘So what are you doing here?'” Are you laid eye candy? “
Allison then went on to say that such experiences were very common for her while working in Hollywood. “This is an example of, I’m at work and this is what someone tells me,” she said, before listing another inappropriate remark someone made to her in a separate group.
“[A]n the actor I worked with later… watched me eat pastries and said, ‘Don’t you want to be successful?’ You know, these kinds of comments will inevitably appear.”
Recalling these stories, she told the other members of the committee, “Look how unshocked you were. That familiar vague feeling.”
“We’ve all heard it.”
