2022 Big Ten Tournament bracket, schedule: Live updates from Michigan State vs Purdue, college basketball results

The Big Ten was full of surprises in the second round of play on Thursday but it really delivered the drama on Friday in the quarterfinal round of play. Three of the matches ended in upset by the seeds, and the other, Purdue’s win over Penn State, came to the final minutes before seed No. 3 Boilermakers advanced to the semifinals.

Among the surprises — and there were plenty — was nothing as unexpected as Friday’s opening game when the No. 9 seed and Indiana were likely to make their way into the NCAA Championship field with a 65-63 victory over the No. 1 seed Illinois. IU star Trayce Jackson-Davis continued his strong week with 21 points and seven boards to win, edging out Big Ten teammate Kofi Cockburn after struggling against him earlier in the season.

Elsewhere in the group, the second-seeded Wisconsin and regular-season Big Ten also exited early in the conference tournament, falling 69-63 to Michigan State. With Johnny Davis still recovering, the Badgers didn’t have the firepower to match MSU, and Davis struggled uncharacteristically, shooting 3 of 19 off the ground. The loss marked the first time that the top seed in a Big Ten tournament had been eliminated in a quarter.
